Valves
Subsea valves conforming to AP16A standards
Haskel International has successfully
completed performance verification
testing, per API 6A (19
th
Edition), for its
BuTech subsea valves used in oil and
gas production.
Tests demonstrated the
integrity of the subsea
valves in accordance
with the standard. The
data supported the
confidence that BuTech
subsea valves meet
performance, safety and
reliability expectations in
the deepest water and
some of the harshest
environments in the
industry.
The
valves
were
subjected to hydrostatic
and
hyperbaric
testing and calibrated
temperature baths that
simulate the extreme
heat and cold that are
common in operating
situations for the valves.
Tests proved that the valves conform
to all aspects stated in API 6A (19
th
Edition), ISO 10423:2003 PR2, Annex
F/PSL3G. This standard is recognised
around the world as the specification
for pressure control systems in wellhead
and distribution equipment used for
production of oil and gas.
The tests were certified by DNV (Det
Norske Veritas Classification (Americas),
Inc), who approved the test procedures,
verified performance testing results,
witnessed product teardown and
issued an official project summary
report covering the scope of the DNV
inspection.
The BuTech brand of high pressure
valves, tubing, fittings and accessories
was established in 1973. Since 1999 it
has been part of Haskel International,
Inc, a leader in the fluid power industry,
manufacturing a complete line of air
amplifiers, gas boosters and liquid
pumps for general industrial and military
applications. The company has been
a business unit of the industrial group
of Hamilton Sundstrand, a United
Technologies company, since 2004.

Stauff presented its new high-pressure
ball valves at the Hanover Industrial Fair
in April.
“We have more than 25 years of
international experience with ball
valves,” commented general sales

is new is that they have now been
incorporated into our product range for
Germany – at the express request of our
customers.”
The new fittings will be available in a
wide range of materials, including steel
and stainless steel, with a zinc/iron-
based corrosion protection layer.
