Rolling technology for production of spring wire

DEM’s ProfileWire Rolling line (PWR) for the production of spring wire consists of a payoff

for wire unloading, a pre-straightener, three motorised high-precision rolling stands,

a laser for dimensional deviation control and a take-up system such as coiler, spooler,

calander or facilities for cutting, straightening and unloading of straight bars.

The lines can cover any range of product size up to 500mm

, with speeds of up to

1,200m/min, and can be customised to specific requirements. The core of the system

is the latest generation DEM rolling stand, which allows demanding tolerances to be

achieved thanks to a new tool arrangement design, accurate profile measurement and

self-adjustment on closed loop control.

Line operation is controlled by user-friendly supervisor software. All production and set-

up parameters can be stored in the automation system and retrieved as required for

repeating production campaigns.

DEM provides advanced rolling solutions for the cold rolling industry, for ferrous and

non-ferrous metals. In addition to complete profile wire rolling lines, DEM can supply

complete rolling lines for flat wire; complete rolling lines for the production of concrete

reinforcing wire in coils at high speed; complete rolling lines for the production of

concrete reinforcing wire in bundles at high speed; rolling cassettes for wire rolling and

rope compacting; micro-cassettes to replace traditional dies in drawing lines; and tube

forming technology for flux cored wire (welding wire).

Profile wire rolling line from DEM

designs

and

manufactures motor driven decoilers, for

both coils and reels, for the wire and cable

industry for the feeding of spring making

machines, straightening machines and

cable cutting machines.

TheHDTV1000decoiler has beendesigned

for wire in coils or bundles, with minimum

loading diameter of 300mm, and for

springs wire diameter from 0.6 to 5.5 mm.

The decoiler allows easy positioning of the

coil on the horizontal loading plate, which

has a 1,200mm external diameter.

The material to decoil goes from the coil to

a first diversion device, then to a moving

arm, and finally to an external tacho-

dynamo device. The rotation of the motor

of the decoiler can be controlled by both

the moving arm and the tacho-dynamo

device. All operating parameters of the

decoiler can be set on the control panel.

Maximum speed is 55rpm and the

maximum capacity is 1,000kg. The height

of the loading plate from ground is

870mm, and the overall dimensions are

2,000 x 1,250mm.

Thecompanyproduces a rangeof decoilers

with vertical axis of rotation, for wires from

0.2 to 16mm diameter, feed capacity from

30 to 2,500kg, plate diameters from 600 to

2,500mm, and maximum rotating speed

from 18 to 90rpm, on request.
