HOW DO PEOPLE GET CAFFEINE?

6.

In North America, most people get their caf-

feine from coffee beverages. In other parts of

the world, tea is more common. Soft drinks

and medicines also contain caffeine, and so

do some candies. Energy drinks also contain

lots of caffeine.

Different kinds of coffee contain differ-

ent amounts of caffeine. In general, a

serving of coffee contains somewhere

between 40 and 100 milligrams of

coffee. Dark roasts have less than light-

er roasts because the roasting process

reduces the beans’ caffeine content.

In North America, 90

percent of adults con-

sume some

amount of

caffeine

daily.
