applicant for a driving licence to submit to a test of
competence—a much needed requirement in the
Republic.
Will our government realise that while there is
plenty of room for improvement in the road-traffic
law, this can best be achieved by seeking advice
from those with a wide experience of road-traffic
problems ?
In this connection it may be well to
recall that when the Road Traffic Bill 1932 was
going through the Dail a
casus ommissus
would have
been created but for the intervention of a solicitor
in private practice as a result of which a last minute
section was inserted in the Bill.
It is to be hoped that no time will be lost in
giving consideration to the above aspects of law
reform.
