The following was among the business transacted:

Statute of Limitations Bill, 1955.

THE Council considered a report from a committee

stating that the Bill had been

examined by the

Society's examiners and lecturers who had sent in

reports which had been forwarded to the Depart

ment of Justice.

Solicitors and Auctioneers.

A COMMITTEE

reported that representations had

been received from a bar association about alleged

interference by auctioneers between solicitor and

client with the object of diverting or directing

clients to particular solicitors. By direction of the

Committee the Secretary had sent a circular to the

bar associations asking for their observations.

Change of Solicitors.

PROVISION for costs of former solicitor.

The

Council adopted a report from a Committee stating

that there is no general or universal rule whereby

a solicitor should not act for a client in business

where the client has been represented by another

solicitor unless provision is made by the client

for payment of the other solicitors' costs.

ORDINARY GENERAL MEETING.

AN ordinary general meeting of the Society will

be held in the Library, Solicitors' Buildings, Four

Courts, Dublin, on Thursday, loth May, 1956,

at 2.30 o'clock.
