In its report for the three months ended
June 30, First QuantumMinerals (FQM) says
that its new smelter at the Kansanshi cop-
per mine in Zambia reached commercial
production status ahead of expectation.
During the six-month commission-
ing and ramp-up period, approximately

The smelter recorded throughput of
over 80 000 tonnes during the month of
June, representing 76 % of design capac-
ity, and smelter recovery rates were above
design rates in the same period.
