THE PRESIDENT.
The Council elected, on 6th December,
Mr.1
Charles Laverty,
of Castleblayney,
County Monaghan, to be President of the
Society for the ensuing twelve months.
The newly-elected President, who served
his apprenticeship with Mr. Gerald B. Cullen
was admitted in 1894. He became a member
of the Council in 1924, and was a Vice-
President of the Society in 1928-29.
THE VICE-PRESIDENTS.
The Council has elected Mr. Eugene F.
Collins, of Dublin, and Mr. Philip N. Smith,
of Cavan, to be Vice-Presidents of the Society
for the ensuing twelve months.
OBITUARY.
MR. WILLIAM ALEXANDER, Solicitor, died
on the 26th November, 1934, at his residence,
St. Agnes's, Greystones, County Wicklow.
Mr. Alexander was admitted in Michaelmas
Sittings, 1881, and practised at 182 Great
Brunswick Street, Dublin, up to 1889, when
he was appointed Solicitor to the Irish Land
Commission, which office he filled up to 1916,
when he retired.
MR. WILLIAM DEVERELL, Solicitor, died on
the 9th November, 1934, at his residence,
Ellesmere, Greystones, Co. Wicklow.
Mr. Deverell was admitted
in Hilary
Sittings, 1885, and practised at 17 D'Olier
Street, Dublin, up to 1902, when he was
appointed Clerk of the Crown and Peace for
the County of Wicklow, which office he held
up to 1922, when the office of Clerk of the
Crown ceased to exist. He continued as Clerk
of the Peace up to 1926, when he retired.
