FAD and FMN occur as protein bound
flavoproteins in tissue, primarily bound to
albumin in serum.
FAD and FMN function as cofactors for a wide
variety of oxidative enzymes and remain bound to
the enzymes during the oxidation‐reduction
reactions.
FAD participates in the respiratory chain thus is
important in energy production
Flavins can act as oxidizing agents because of
their ability to accept a pair of hydrogen atoms.
