CLASS OF 1971
~ 45th Reunion
CLASS OF 1971 ENDOWMENT
TOTAL AS AT MAY 31, 2017
CLASS REPS: Judy Betteridge Haust and Elizabeth
White
Our 45th Reunion was a smash hit, with best supporting
actress in a lead role going to
Jane Wilson
. With her
wonderfully dry sense of humour intact, Jane helped
organize and sponsored this successful evening event. A
cast of 28 gathered to reminisce and celebrate the ties that
bind us all.
Lea Hansen
and
Elizabeth (Liz) Woolley
didn’t
disappoint, showing up in their wonderfully comfortable, if
not necessarily stylish, green tunics.
Among many encounters, Grade 9 new girls and roomies
Paula McKee Costello
,
Susan Manchee
and
Elizabeth
White
reunited for the first time since 1970! This year’s
Chronicle
theme being “taste, sight, touch, smell and
hearing,” our reunion certainly fit the bill. The plentiful
hors d’oeuvres smelled and tasted fantastic, smiling faces
provided a feast for the eyes, hugs abounded and the joyful
noise level even prompted us to close the doors to our
private room to avoid disturbing others…but only until the
animated chatter generated too much heat for comfort! A
memorabilia table provided many fascinating items worth
browsing, including a 1971 Commemorative Calendar, a
rare book featuring Havergal,
Ludemuses
dating back to
1956 (yes, some Lifers lurk in our midst!), photo albums,
an electronic photo screen with old and recent photos,
written greetings from those who weren’t able to join us,
numerous Havergal-themed Haiku poems, and music from
the 1960s (quickly lost in the din). The inspired idea of
bringing a whistle proved fruitful when everyone’s attention
was required!
In a more sombre moment, Liz Woolley addressed the
group, urging us to remember those classmates (of whom
we’re aware) who are no longer with us in person, but still
very much in many of our hearts and minds:
Jane Fraser
Miller
(January 2008),
Mary Hamilton Worsell
(August
2009) and
Barb Stodgell Munro
(July 2014), all of whom
The Class of 1971 celebrated its 45th Reunion last fall.
