CLASS REP: Márta Ecsedi
Mary Griffiths Priebe
is retired and living happily in
Barbados. Her family has grown to 12 people including
three grandchildren, and she will celebrate her 40th
wedding anniversary this year. Sadly, Mary will miss the
reunion as she will be on a French river cruise.
Harriet
Peckham Binkley
reports that Andrew is CEO of a startup
firm ‒ Opalux ‒ and Clarissa is an engineer with Morrison
Hershfield in Edmonton.
Valerie Van De Mark Brown

Peter live in southwest Florida in a gated community called
Miromar Lakes. They are grandparents for the first time to
dear little Priscilla Van de Mark Brown.
Sylvia Divecky
has started a new business: Central
Sun Jewellery.
Sharon Davis Tanner
and
Márta Ecsedi
enjoy getting together with Sylvia to make fabulous
new creations.

counselling initiative supports one full-time psychiatric
staff member at the college and a psychologist from
the university several days a week.
Glynis Newman
’s
veterinary practice has grown substantially and is voted
number one by the residents of Victoria. Her retirement
home will be completely off the grid in a fairly remote part
of the B.C. West Coast.
Charlene Post Macdonald
and
Louise Park
MacMillan
spent a lovely three weeks together in Italy with
their husbands. Louise continues her work as chairman of
the Havergal College Educational Foundation.
Christine
(Chris) Gray Cunningham
had three classmates visit her
in Australia:
Susan Payne Olivo
came from Mexico at
Christmas;
Mary Ellen DaCosta Playdel
flew down from
Airlie Beach, Queensland; and
Heather Hayes Sherk
came over from Melbourne for her daughter Emily’s
wedding in February 2015.
Nancy Goodwin Berry
had a five-day visit from Scott
and Adelle at Christmas. Andre is interviewing for his book
and, last year, they covered 13,000 km from Vancouver to
the southernmost tip of California, across to Arizona, north
through Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington
and back to Vancouver.
Barbara (Barb) Baines
caught
up with
Daphne Schenk Ross
in Parksville, B.C. Barb is
retired from the government but is busier than ever with
consulting, teaching and golf!
Sharon Davis Tanner
is
well and enjoys her gatherings with Márta and Sylvia to
design and make jewellery. She is looking forward to the
next family trip to see old friends in Nairobi, Kenya in the
fall.
Márta Ecsedi
enjoys her two grandsons and keeps
busy with her volunteer work as chair of Professional
Engineers Ontario’s equity and diversity committee. I look
forward to seeing all of you for our 45th Reunion.

lost their lives to cancer. Your Class Reps were overwhelmed
when presented with thoughtful cards and a bottle of Moët
& Chandon for each of us in recognition of our efforts.
Truly appreciative, we also want you to know that in the 20
years since we took over from Liz Woolley (who led single-
handedly for the first 25!), it has been a labour of love that
we continue to enjoy.
As 23 of you e-mailed best wishes for our 45th Reunion,
along with your regrets about being unable to attend,
meeting the following challenge is doable with sufficient
notice: Let’s aim to have 50 of us gather for our 50th! The
year 2021 may seem far away, but time is flying faster than
ever, so start spreading the word now! As we anticipate the
next Class Reunion (and try to wrap our heads around being
labelled Cinquantenaires!), keep in mind the following Haiku
written by one of our party-goers:
Reunion? I’ll go!
Competition obsolete
So great to be old!
