Conducted by renowned geosynthetics
expert, Peter Davies, these lectures make
earning CPD points more convenient
and keep one up to date with the latest
technical and regulatory information
about geosynthetics. For those who
don't need to collect CPD points, these
are informative and easily accessible
lectures that impart current information
on geotextile installations, and are thus
worthwhile viewing for their practicality.
To earn CPD pointswatch the lecture
at:
www.kaytech.co.za/cpd,complete a
short online questionnaire and download
an attendance certificate. Plus, these
online lectures are free of charge and
won’t even cost the extra time to reach
a venue.
Each lecture earns one 0.1 CPD points.
There are seven lectures, each divided
into segments of 15 to 20 minutes, so
they can be viewed in short bursts or

O.D. Pipejack; 250 m³ Grouting
also well-known for its soil improve-
ment systems including dynamic compac-
tion, deep soil mixing, accelerated con-
solidation and of course Jet Grouting as
discussed above.
Franki’s skills in trenchless technology
are just as strong and for more than 30
years it has successfully provided pipe-
jacking and other trenchless technologies

Treated jacking face holding cobbles and fines in suspension.
case boring – to a wide range of clients in
Southern Africa.
Trenchless technology is a ‘family’
of methods, materials, and equipment
capable of being used for the installation,
replacement or rehabilitation of existing
underground infrastructure with minimal
disruption to surface traffic, business, and
other activities. It is, therefore, often the
most cost-effective solution.
Pipejacking, an integral part of this ‘family’,
is a technique for installing underground
pipelines, ducts and culverts. Powerful
hydraulic jacks are used to push specially
designed pipes through the ground behind a
shield at the same time as excavation
is taking place within the shield. The
method provides a flexible, structural,
watertight, finished pipeline as the tunnel
is excavated.

The lecture series comprises:
• Introduction to Geosynthetics
• Filtration and Drainage with Geosynthetics
• Erosion Control with Geosynthetics
• Soil Reinforcement with Geosynthetics
• Lining Systems with Geosynthetic Clay
Linings (GCLs)
• Bitumen Based Formed In-Situ Dam Lining
with Geosynthetics
• Road Pavement Maintenance with
Geosynthetics
Kaytech will continue to offer live lectures,
delivered by Peter Davies who, with 50
years’ experience in the industry, provides
an invaluable perspective in these
presentations. Customised lectures at your
own premises can be arranged directly with
your nearest Kaytech branch or via this

Kaytech strives to achieve the
highest possible standards in service
and innovation, and is therefore able to
offer solutions to individual customers’
CPD needs. Whether you prefer online
or live lectures (or other educational
requirements in geosynthetics), Kaytech is
committed to their chosen brand slogan,
‘People, Planet, Progress’.
Online CPD-accredited lectures
Kaytech has launched a unique service offering: Online CPD lectures
on geosynthetics. Industry professionals can now ‘attend’ the lectures,
accredited by SAICE, whenever and wherever they like – from the comfort of
their own office, home or even waiting to board a flight.
