Bronx/Taylor-Wilson, USA, manufactures
a range that includes pipe straighteners,
hydrostatic testing machines, and cutting
and facing systems.
The company has over 100 years of industry
experience, and thousands of installations
worldwide, and constantly improves
its equipment to meet ever-rising pipe
testing pressure, stringent straightening
requirements and industry standards.
In 2007, the company negotiated over
a dozen new pipe straightening lines for
pipe producers in Europe, Saudi Arabia,
USA, China, Brazil and Russia, including
machines designed to process 7

upset drill pipe to large high yield pipe
straighteners for 339.7mm API product.
The company also commissioned and
installed over ten new straighteners at pipe
producers in Kazakhstan, Germany, China,
South America, USA, Ukraine and Russia.
Bronx straightening machines are suitable
for processing cold or hot pipes of over
600°C, thin or thick walled tubes of over
50mm, and low or high yield strength alloys
of over 1,000MPa.
Bronx/Taylor-Wilson also had a successful
year with its API quality hydrostatic
pipe testing equipment. The company
commissioned seven new hydrostatic pipe
tester installations and has received orders
for another six new machines.
Bronx has been awarded international
contracts for the design, manufacture and
installation of its pipe testing machines for
API 5L and 5 CT. This includes machines
testing of 60.3 to 178mm diameter pipe
up to a maximum test pressure of 690 bar,
and a machine that will test diameters up
to 340mm to pressures of 140MPa with an
annual production capacity of over 150,000
tonnes.

The company’s end-facing machines for
API 5L and 5 CT product have been in
production since 2005, and process 219.1
to 619mm diameter pipe. Bronx recently
began production of a machine of similar
design, which is capable of facing diameters
up to 630mm with an annual production
capacity of 300,000t.
The company also produces a new cut-off
design with the ability to end-finish pipes
without prior cutting. This reduces the need
to crop every pipe prior to end finishing,
and saves unnecessary scrap and the use
of two separate machines. The machine is
configured to provide numerous end finishes,
including 5L line pipe, double cuts and square
ends. It is designed to handle arduous duties
such as cutting and finishing pipe with a wall
up to 2". The machine is capable of cutting
pipe at speeds of up to 500fpm.
