KNOW YOUR COUNCIL 1984/85
Michael P. Houlihan
Michael P. Houlihan was educated at Ennis C.B.S., Cistercian College,
Roscrea, and U.C.D., and qualified in 1963. He then returned to practise
with his father, Ignatius M. Houlihan, at Ennis, where he has since
practised. He was elected to the Council in the year 1970 and has served
on most of the Society's Committees from time to time, chairing the
Society's Privileges, Professional Purposes, Insurance and Premises
Committees. He was also one of the Society's representatives on the
Superior Court Rules Committee. Mr. Houlihan served as President of
the Society for the year 1982/83.
Elma Lynch
Elma Lynch, B.C.L., is the principal of the firm of Daly & Lynch,
Solicitors, 13 Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2. She was educated at Sion
Hill, Blackrock and Loreto Abbey, Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin and at the
University College Dublin. She was admitted as a Solicitor in 1970 and
worked as Assistant Solicitor with Arthur O'Hagan & Sons, Solicitors,
before joining the firm of Daly & Lynch. She is a nominee of the Dublin
Solicitors' Bar Association, being on the Council of that Association
since 1978. She has been a member of various Committees of the Law
Society including Registrars, Professional Purposes and Public
Relations.
Laurence Cullen
Laurence Cullen is senior partner in Augustus Cullen & Son, Solicitors,
Wicklow. Son of the late Augustus Cullen, a former Council member, he
was educated at De La Salle School, Wicklow, Presentation College,
Bray and Castleknock College, Dublin. He qualified in 1957, and was
awarded the Society's Silver Medal for that year. He has been a member
of the Council since 1971. He holds the office of State Solicitor for
County Wicklow and is the Society's Senior Vice President, 1984/85.
