Advocacy in the Criminal
Trial Seminar
2nd-6th September, 1985
Edinburgh/Glasgow
The General Practice Section of the International Bar
Association, in association with the Law Society of
Scotland, will hold a Seminar in Edinburgh and Glasgow
between the 2nd and 6th September, 1985. Among the
distinguished speakers will be:—
Marvin Mitchelson (US),
George Carman QC (England),
Lord McCloskey (Scotland),
S.G. Swaminadhan (India).
The programme, in addition to a series of lectures and
discussions, will include a mock criminal trial.
The topics to be covered will include:—
1. The examination and cross examination of witnesses.
2. The art of advocacy.
3. The plea in mitigation.
4. Plea bargaining.
5. Ethics of the Criminal Lawyer.
