John
C.
Reidy
John C. Reidy is a partner in the firm of Reidy Stafford & Company,
Solicitors, Newbridge and Kilcullen, County Kildare. He was educated
at C.B.S. in Kildare Town and subsequently at the Dominican College,
Newbridge, County Kildare. He went to U.C.D. in 1970 and qualified
with a B.C.L. Degree in 1973 and became admitted to the Roll of
Solicitors in Michaelmas 1974. He served for one year in the Office of the
Chief State Solicitor in Dublin Castle and then moved to set up private
practice with his brother in the towns of Newbridge and Kilcullen in
1975. He was Secretary of the County Kildare Solicitors Bar Association
for 4 years before winning election on to the Council of the Law Society
for the first time in 1981. Since then he has served on various committees
of the Law Society including Compensation Fund, Parliamentary,
E.E.C. and International Affairs, Litigation and Professional
Indemnity Insurance. He is currently Chairman of the Parliamentary
Committee. He carried on business with his brother Patrick under the
style of Reidy & Company, Solicitors until his partner, Thomas J.
Stafford, joined the firm in 1982 from when it became known as Reidy
Stafford & Company.
Donal
G.
Binchy
Donal G. Binchy is Senior Partner in the firm of O'Brien & Binchy,
Solicitors, Clonmel, and is son of the late James A. Binchy, Solicitor. He
was educated at Christian Brothers, Clonmel and at Clongowes Wood
College. He qualified and was admitted as Solicitor in 1951 and was
awarded the Society's Silver Medal in his final Law examination. He was
President of the County Tipperary Bar Association in the year 1980/81.
He has been a member of the Council since 1975. He has served terms as
Chairman of the Society's Parliamentary and Taxation Committees and
has been one of the Consultants on the Society's Advanced Taxation
Course. He is the Society's Junior Vice President 1984/85.
Ernest J. Margetson
Ernest J. Margetson was educated at the High School and Trinity
College Dublin and was admitted as a Solicitor in 1951. He is a partner
in the firm of Matheson Ormsby & Prentice. He was Honorary Secretary
of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association and also President of that
Association. He was elected to the Council in 1974 and has served as
Chairman of the Professional Purposes Committee and Compensation
Fund Committee. He is currently Chairman of the Registrar's
Committee and Vice Chairman of the Finance Committee and
Publications Committee. He was Junior Vice President of the Society
for the year 1982/83.
