EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION STATEMENT
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission enforces five statutes that prohibit job discrimination by private employers and
state and local government agencies:
-
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII),
-
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA)
-
The Equal Pay Act of 1963 (EPA)
-
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
-
Sections of the Civil Rights Act of 1991 (CRA) which amended provisions of Title VII, the ADEA, and the ADA.
The Mississippi Community College Board, in its capacity as the coordinating Board of the community and junior colleges of the
State of Mississippi, strongly urges each of the colleges to comply fully with federal and state nondiscrimination laws and
executive orders which constitute the legal mandate for equal employment opportunity. The Board also strongly urges each
community and junior college to ensure that no one shall be excluded from participating in, be denied the benefits of, or
otherwise be subjected to discrimination in any program or activity of the college on the grounds of race, sex, age, color, creed,
national origin, religion, disability, or any other protected group. The Board itself further adheres to the principle of equal
educational and employment opportunity as mandated by each of these statutes.
