A Wacker Neuson 1101CP skid steer loader with a specialised beach cleaning attachment has
been deployed to help one of the coastal municipalities in South Africa to keep its beaches clean.
With a payload of 1 150 kg, the loader is said to deliver greater traction and can easily negotiate
sandy, muddy or rocky terrain. “What particularly impressed the municipal representatives was
the attachment’s ability to pick up small debris. This is made possible by the specially developed
screens, with hole sizes that trap debris as small as 10mm,” says Eugene Brown, Wacker Neuson
regional president for sub-Saharan Africa.
Since introducing a virtual hire platform for its customers in Australia and New
Zealand, rental company Kennards Hire says almost 60% of online hire bookings are
being made through a mobile device. It says its new online platform offers customers
the convenience to order tools and equipment for hire 24 hours a day, seven days a
week, including access to all 3 600 products in its fleet. “We know that unexpected
jobs can pop up onsite at any time. Our customers need to be able to place an
order at any time of the day or night and be confident they can collect their tools or
equipment at their local store at their convenience,” says Bill Whitehouse, Kennards
Hire acting CEO.
Lyndon Thomas Limited, based in Northampton in the UK, has taken delivery of eight new Doosan DA30-5 articulated dump trucks
(ADTs), the biggest single order for Doosan trucks in the UK. The fleet will be deployed on projects across the country. Established
in 2010, Lyndon Thomas offers a range of services including earthmoving, contract crushing and screening, plant hire, demolition
and distribution of all types of aggregate. The new Doosan trucks were purchased along with a new Doosan 30 tonne DX300LC-5
crawler excavator from Murley Construction, the Doosan dealer in the area.

SDLG dealer FAMCO has put its first units
on the ground with a 58-machine order to
Shibh Al-Jazira Contracting Company in
Saudi Arabia. The order – comprising 30
SDLG LG958 wheel loaders and 28 SDLG
G9220 motor graders – was signed earlier
in the year, amid fierce competition from
Chinese and Western equipment suppliers
in Saudi Arabia. “There are several
reasons why we won this deal,” says
Essam Al-Malik, central regional manager
at FAMCO. “These include our ability to
deliver the machines to the customer’s
precise requirements, SDLG and FAMCO’s
combined ability to carry out exceptional
customer support and after sales service,
and our short lead time for delivery.”
