Kings Cup
Football Tournament
Hundreds of guests and spectators gathered recently
in The Law Society, Blackhall Place, for the final
of the Kings Cup Football Tournament which was
sponsored this year by Phelan Gillespie & Company,
Commercial Property Consultants. The tournament,
which had forty entries, took the form of an eleven-a-
side mixed football competition with six women and
five men on each team. The Law Society Team defeated
Arthur Cox & Co. in the Final by 3 goals to 1.
As well as the final for the Kings Cup, two other
matches took place, one between the Barristers and
Solicitors for the McEntee Cup which was won by the
Solicitors 2:1 and the other, between Parliament United
and the Mechanics (McCann, Fitzgerald, Sutton,
Dudley) for the Chancery Shield which Parliament
United won 4:1.
