2025 Vice Commodore Terry Steinmacher
It’s hard to believe but here we are in July already. May and June were great months at North Channel Yacht Club as we worked on the 2025 capital projects and all the annual projects necessary to open our beautiful club. There are too many members to list individually and I do not want to miss anyone, so a huge thank you to everyone who participated and worked hard at all the work parties and beyond during the week. The club looks amazing! It was great seeing everyone who was at our “Fitting Out” –Memorial Day weekend. The meetings, our touching Flag-Raising ceremony, the camaraderie, the band, and the food was amazing. I wish more of our membership would attend and participate.
I am proud to be serving on your flag and will be at your service as we head through summer.
Looking forward to seeing you at NCYC.

Approval of Meeting Minutes from March 20, 2025 Commodore, Bill Burkhardt Motion: P/C Rick Romantz made a motion to approve Minutes from previous Board Meeting from March 20, 2025. Second: Philip Maniaci Motion Carried Commodore, Bill Burkhardt "Good evening everyone, and welcome. It's hard to believe we're just over a week away from our first work weekend! I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone pitch in and get the club ready for the season. First, an update on the flooring. We've placed the order, and delivery is scheduled for next week. Unfortunately, we ran into a slight budget issue. When I got the initial quote, I overlooked the fact that freight wasn't included – my apologies for that. The First Mates have generously offered $5,000, which is incredibly appreciated. We may need an additional $500 to $1,000 to cover the final costs, but we'll keep you updated as we finalize the details. Speaking of getting things done, our first Elite Brigade weekend is set for the 19th. We'll be providing lunch for everyone, and we're aware that some of you will need to leave a bit early for bowling. We appreciate you giving your time to the club even with a time constraint. I've also been in close contact with Steve Murray, and we're on track to order the wood for battleship row next week. We're making great progress! Mark your calendars! Our official club opening is Thursday, May 24th at noon. Please remember that only the ODs, John and Shelley Sweier, and their dedicated team will be on-site prior to that time as they finalize the opening preparations. And some exciting news for our opening! Tom, our fantastic Bald Chef, has graciously agreed to cook his famous burgers again on Thursday and prepare his special Friday night dinner. He's also planning a delightful surprise for our dinner guests, so you won't want to miss that. We're trying a new system for dinner service this year, a real waiting list by table number. We hope this will streamline things and ensure a more efficient experience. While you might wait a little longer to place your order, we anticipate your food will arrive more quickly. Thank you all for your dedication and support. Let's work together to make this season our best yet. Commodore’s Comments

Vice Commodore’s Comments
Vice Commodore, Terry Steinmacher
Well spring has sprung according to the calendar. Our first elite brigade is April 19 just around the corner. Keep an eye out for future communications from Commodore Bill. He has changed it up a bit this year, the projects we are going to focus on is the Clubhouse Flooring, Battleship Row Decking, and the replacement of the pedestals on A Dock and Battleship Row. So, if you can lend a hand and have a good strong back we’d love to see you there. And also, don’t forget to sign in. I just wanted to give a reminder about the Fashion Show coming up on Sunday April 27 at the Mirage. Hopefully everyone has seen the emails and Facebook. I know you’ve heard me say this before. The Directors and Flag have been working diligently over the winter months to have a seamless transaction into the summer season. Whether it was interviewing new members, scheduling work hours, preparing to do list’s, ordering supplies, scheduling activities, crunching numbers, preparing communications, we are all ready for the 2025 season to begin.

April 2025 Clubhouse Report I’m looking forward to another exciting year in the Clubhouse for 2025. Having visited the clubhouse in late March, I’m happy to report the Clubhouse appears to be in good condition following its winter sleep. The only identified issue so far is a leaky water valve behind the bar. We have some pre-opening work to get done during the elite brigade and work parties: · Completing the installation of new tile in the back kitchen. · Completing the back-of-clubhouse drainage updates started last summer. · Electrical updates to the power panels to ensure all appropriate circuits are connected to the generator, notably the new walk-in cooler in the new garage. · Updates to the wireless access points to improve wifi coverage on the interior and exterior areas of the clubhouse. · Purchase a new under-counter refrigerator for behind the bar. · We’re going to take a look at installing shelving in the new garage to consolidate tools and equipment for the clubhouse in one area. · Finally, and probably more important than anything listed above, repair the glycol line chiller system that keeps our beer flowing and cold.

All that being said, we’re in pretty good shape and ready to get the clubhouse ready for work parties and fitting out weekend. End of Report
Harbor & Grounds
John O’Leary
Good day to you all from Harbor & Grounds. The work brigades and work parties are scheduled and there is a lot to do. We have to focus on the opening but shortly after that, it’s time for maintenance, improvements and some upgrades. So, beyond the obvious tasks at hand there are some bigger projects and improvements on my bucket list. Most of these probably will be beyond the normal H&G budget and capabilities, so I may need expertise from other resources beyond my capabilities and outside of the H&G budget for them to be realized. First, the resource ask. For those that may be experienced enough and willing to help lead or assist with. The fire pit has been dug out, a new steel fire ring (thanks again Kevin Verkest) in place and we have enough pavers bricks to surround the pit for a safety barrier and an aesthetic appearance. Need help in properly building a base to support pavers and properly installing a fire brick cap that again will add to safety initiatives as well as a place to sit when not in use. Also, due to unplanned contact events, I have 2 lanterns poles that need to be replaced and installed. I am still searching for the 10’ poles so when we have them, resources to getting them reattached to the concert foundation may be needed. As for bigger endeavors that may be beyond this year’s budget without some creative or discretionary financial support are, I’m considering a new porta john with a pass code on the door to assure only members of our club and not the general public have a clean and sanitary facility. Replacing the decking out at the point of the swimming hole, self-named make out point or look out point with new Trex or composite decking with composite benches in lieu of the current sliver infested benches. I might even be able to name it after whoever entity that would support it! I am currently seeking quotes for this? In my next report I will share some of the more immediate improvements already planned. Look forward to seeing you all at the next planned opening work parties.

Shelley Sweier reported that junior members will be contacted about alcohol purchase restrictions. All 2025 dues were received. Shelley contacted ClubExpress to ask what level of service we have for NCYC and if there is the possibility of making changes to their system more conducive with NCYC. While a few changes can be made, most will have to be made manually by the Membership Director. Shelley thanked Christa for her help with a situation with ClubExpress and a waitlist applicant who received a random email saying they were accepted and active. Money was paid through ClubExpress using a debit card. This issue has been addressed and is ongoing. The membership numbers stand at 271 total, 196 voting, 42 seniors, 12 juniors, 26 non-voting

Commodore’s Comments
Commodore, Bill Burkhardt
We’re less than a week away from the club opening, it’s getting pretty exciting and a little stressful.
All of the projects are in the final stages of completion. The only change from the original plan is we will be waiting until the fall to replace the flooring on the kids room.
Both Elite Brigades and Work Parties were very well attended as well.
Reminders official opening for boats coming in is noon on Thursday May 22nd, and there will be a hamburger dinner that evening presented by Tom The Bald Chef. More details to follow in the meeting.
Thank you all for your dedication, hard work, and support. Let's continue to work together to make this season our best yet. Are there any immediate questions or comments before we move to the next item on the agenda?"
Warmest Regards,
Bill Burkhardt, Commodore

Vice Commodore’s Comments
Vice Commodore, Terry Steinmacher
1) Well spring has defiantly sprung according to the calendar. We are only 3 weeks away from the 2025 season opening. All the Elite Brigades have come and gone, with the accomplishment (almost) with the two major projects. We still have two more work weekends to complete more projects. Keep an eye out for communications from Commodore Bill. This is a great time to get your required 4 hrs in. Harbor and Grounds (John O’Leary), Clubhouse (Bill Fredrickson), Transportation (PC Brian Fringer), Supplies (Shelly Schroka), and we cannot forget about NCYC Flower child Kathy Fowler, they all will be looking for some hands with some of their projects, so please roll up your sleeves and get involved! Please see them or a Flag Officer when you arrive for direction. And don’t forget to sign in to get your hours documented. 2) We have a couple of projects that are going to be completed before our opening. One is the replacement of the decking on Battleship row; along with the much needed pedestals. Also thanks to the First Mates the clubhouse flooring got some much needed love. Thank you all that have lended a helping

hand to complete these projects. Without you, the member volunteering NCYC wouldn’t be what it is today. We all know it takes a village to keep the old girl running like a well-oiled machine as we prepare for the 2025 season.
End of Report
Rear Commodore’s Comments
Rear Commodore, Mark Javery
It has been great seeing the turn out and work that was accomplished at the 3 Elite Brigade work parties. Battleship row is coming along nicely and the new club floor was almost complete when I left the island last week.
Hopefully this coming Saturday we can burn the old dock boards piling up.
Thank you to those who prepared our lunches these 3 Saturdays, specifically Sharon Javery, Marie Pepin, and Susan Burkhardt. Can’t leave out Director Philip who grilled our steaks perfectly last Saturday.
I’m looking forward to our next two work parties and seeing beautiful club ready for a great 2025 summer.
Forward Planning is continuing, and a full committee meeting will be held within next month if all goes well.
