For northern Budongo, increase in policing of the forest area and the presence of

the park entry gate at the southern end of the only through road has resulted in

observable decrease in burning. The burning was mainly carried out by the local

communities bordering the forest. Fire scars were evident on the 1973 image of

northern Budongo. There are no fire scars on the one of 2008 due to recovery.
