Was the method tested using all the SPIFAN samples for precision and accuracy?
All fortified and unfortified SPIFAN matrices were tested along with IDF matrices of
cheese, butter, whey protein concentrate, whole milk powder, whole milk, and whey
powder.

Was data provided from a standard reference material?
Yes. SRM 1948a MLT mean: 701 (n=16, RSD=2.44%). NIST SRM 1849a Reference value:
7010±170 mg/kg .

Was the analysis conducted using ready-to-feed (reconstituted) infant formula?
Yes
•
Was rice based formula available and was it used?
No. SPIFAN kit did not include rice based formula.

Was the method tested using properly characterized standards?
Method requires silver nitrate standard meet European, British, and United States
Pharmacopoeia specifications. Participating MLT Laboratories were required to
report AgNO3 standardization data.

Is there proof of performance through system suitability?
Yes. Method requires analysis of blank and a check of the silver electrode before
beginning assay.

Is there clarity of calibration procedure?
Yes
