2015 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

ECONOMIC



The Special Events & Filming Section

generated $900,000 in cash

sponsorships plus over $1.1 million of

in-kind and media sponsorship for the

many high quality, free community

events put on by the City. The Film

office continues to attract large film

productions to Surrey. By October, 84

film permits had been issued,

resulting in roughly $1.7 million in

economic activity. The number of

filming days to date is 173,

representing $283,358 in direct

revenue for the City;



The Surrey Museum received a

$30,000 operating grant from the

British Columbia Arts Council; and



Participated in the review of the City’s

print shop and supported the

transition to a new business model

approach with recoveries to improve

the operating efficiencies and quality

of services offered by the print shop

under a new reporting structure within

the Marketing and Communications

Section.

ENVIRONMENTAL



With the mission of developing new

active parks as well as protecting

Surrey’s natural spaces, the Parks

division acquired 18.6 hectares (32

acres) of new parkland in 2015. 26,224

annual flowers were planted this

summer and 66,168 spring bulbs. Our

displays are planted around public

buildings with planters and feature

beds within the City; and



Completed a Management Plan for

Fergus Watershed Biodiversity

Preserve.
