ENVIRONMENTAL
Continue implementation of the
Greenways Plan together with
Engineering including extending
the Surrey Lake Greenway and
the Nicomekl Greenway on the
south shore of the Nicomekl
River; and
Plant more than 4,000 shade
trees and restore more than 8
hectares of degraded parkland
to natural areas.
ECONOMIC
The City is partnering with Coastal
Football Club to develop a new
covered practice facility in South
Surrey Athletic Park in 2016;
Surrey will host the Creative City
Summit in October 2016, welcoming
municipal cultural workers and
community leaders from across
Canada to the three day conference.
As the host city, Surrey will organize
the welcome reception, local study
tours and artist animation throughout
the event;
The Surrey Museum and Historic
Stewart Farm will offer “FREE”
admission through a sponsorship
from the Friends of the Surrey
Museum and Archives Society; and
Replacement of CLASS Recreation
Management System by 2018 and
provide ongoing support and
continual upgrades after
implementation.
SOCIO - CULTURAL
Co-Chair on Child Care Task Force and
collaboratively develop a Child Care
Action Plan for Surrey;
Begin construction of a new fitness
expansion at Newton Recreation
Centre to open in late 2016; continue
to plan for a twin ice arena for the
Cloverdale Community to open by
2019 and for the replacement of the
North Surrey Arena by 2018 and
continue design phase and planning
for the Clayton Heights Recreation
Centre to open in 2020;
Organize and plan 2016 Doors Open,
Party for the Planet, Canada Day,
Fusion Festival, Surrey International
Children’s Festival, Culture Days and
Tree Lighting events;
Heritage staff will lead the Surrey
Heritage Advisory Commission Legacy
Book project; and
The Archives will begin to link
historical photographs in COSMOS.
