2016-2020 FINANCIAL PLAN



Development of a conceptual plan for

the future development of Surrey

Centre Cemetery. Complete

renovation of the Veteran’s section of

Surrey Centre Cemetery including the

removal of an old WWII canon and

replacement with an award winning

public art memorial. Complete

renovation of the Larch section of

Surrey Centre Cemetery including

installation of drainage and grave

levelling. Construction of feature

retaining wall & landscaped area at

Surrey Centre Cemetery;



A larger scale renovation project for

2015 was Softball City Phase

II. Works included a complete infield

renovation of the two south ball

diamond infields, renovation of the

large passive turf and shrub panels on

the north, south and west entrances,

major upgrade to the sports field and

passive turf irrigation system, sports

field lighting service, renovation and

repairs and tree removals and

replanting;



Together with Engineering and the

Mayor’s Office, the Web & New Media

Team engaged with the public about

the Transportation and Transit

Referendum. The team utilized social

media and web content to inform the

public about important details, the

benefits of Mayor’s Council plan for

Surrey and corrected misinformation

around the campaign. The Team’s

efforts reached 370,847 citizens,

proving that social media and web can

and should be used to promote city

initiatives, large and small;



Participated as a key partner in the 2nd

phase of United Way of the Lower

Mainland Avenues of Change; an

innovative and place-based initiative

with a primary objective to have more

children ready to succeed by the time

they start school;



Part 1 of the Kids Gallery at the Surrey

Museum was designed and curated.

This exhibit provides families and

children in Surrey with an additional

space to be active and learn about

making the world a better place to live,

work and play. This fully interactive

and active exhibition teaches children

and families about sustainable and

responsible energy use and is the first

dedicated gallery for children in the

Lower Mainland. Development of this

exhibit has strong partnerships with

the City, businesses and the

community;



Surrey Art Gallery celebrated its 40th

anniversary with a series of large

exhibitions that focused on the region

south of the Fraser and local artist;

and



Hosted a Grand Opening of Guildford

Aquatics Centre in May 2015 and

substantially completed Grandview

Heights Aquatic Centre.
