Eighteen Members present.

Income Tax Recovery Proceedings.

A letter was read from the Southern Law

Association drawing attention to a claim by

an Income Tax Collector to be entitled to

profit costs of proceedings for the recovery

of income tax instituted by him in his own

name as plaintiff, under the provisions of

Section 11 of the Finance Act, 1924. The

matter was

referred

to

the Privileges

Committee.

Twenty-seven Members present.

Legal Practitioners (Qualification) Bill.

A draft statement of objections to the

Legal Practitioners (Qualification) Bill, 1928,

as amended by Special Committee of the

Dail), prepared by a Committee of

the

Council, was considered and adopted, and

copies directed to be sent to all members of

the Oireachtas, to the Press, and to other

Public Bodies.

OBITUARY.

MR. ALEXANDER SUTHERLAND, Solicitor,

died upon 1st February, 1929, at 43 Gray's

Hill, Bangor, County Down.

Mr. Sutherland served his apprenticeship

with Mr. William L. B. Cochrane, Dublin ;

was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1920, and

practised at Bangor.

MR. ANDREW G. SLOAN, Solicitor, died

upon 3rd February, 1929, at his residence,

Ballywookan House, Portadown.

Mr. Sloan was admitted in Hilary Sittings,

1881, and practised at Portadown up to 1918,

when he retired.

MR. JAMES C. BARR, Solicitor, died upon

the 9th February, 1929, at his residence,

" Hillside," Alexander Avenue, Holywood,'

Count}' Down.

Mr. Barr served his apprenticeship with

Mr. Samuel Ross, Belfast; was admitted in

Hilary Sittings,

1905,

and practised at

Belfast.

MR. OLIVER A. PRINGLE, Solicitor, died

upon the llth February, 1929, at Belfast.

Mr. Pringle served his apprenticeship with

Mr. James A. Pringle, Enniskillen; was

admitted

in Hilary Sittings,

1908,

and

practised at Enniskillen, in partnership with

Sir Charles F. Falls and Mr. James Hanna.

He was Crown Solicitor for the County of

Fermanagh.

MR. PATRICK N. MURPHY, Solicitor, died

upon

the

19th February,

1929, at his

residence,

3 Clarinda Park, East, Dun

Laoghaire.

Mr. Murphy was admitted

in Hilary

Sittings, 1886, and practised at 19 Kildare

Street, Dublin.

MR. FRANCIS J. FOTTRELL, Solicitor, died

upon

the 28th February,

1929, at his

residence 41, Raglan Road, Dublin.
