Technip has announced it will set up a new

flexible pipe manufacturing plant under the

name Asiaflex Products. Located in Tanjung

Langsat industrial complex, on the southern

tip of Peninsular Malaysia in Johor State,

this new plant will have direct access to a

deepwater quayside.

Asiaflex Products will have a manufacturing

capacity of 200km

2

(normalized) per annum

of flexible pipes. It will allow the Technip

group to reach a total maximum production

capacity of 1,060km (normalized) per

annum. This figure includes the current

capacity of the two existing Technip plants

– Flexi France in Le Trait, France and

Flexibras in Vitória, Brazil.

The new plant is part of a €1 billion capex

programme to strengthen Technip’s

assets in the subsea industry (vessel fleet,

engineering centres and manufacturing

plants) and reinforce Technip’s worldwide

leadership in the flexible pipe market.

Expected to be operational by 2010,

Asiaflex Products’ primary focus will be the

emerging deepwater oil and gas markets in

the Asia-Pacific and Middle-East regions.

The facility will have the capability of

producing the complete range of Technip

flexible pipes. The manufacturing site will

be designed to allow future extension for

umbilical production. The plant will provide

employment for approximately 300 people.

Technip is a global player in oil and gas

services and a long-standing leader in oil

and gas engineering in the Asia-Pacific

region with more than 3,200 employees, key

operating centres across Asia and Oceania

and regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur,

Malaysia.

Mr Bernard Di Tullio, Technip president &

COO stated:

“This new plant, benefiting

from its strategic location and our expertise

in flexible pipe manufacturing, will further

consolidate our global leadership.”

US government supply

agreement for tube

manipulation technology

AddisonMckee, tube-bending and end-

forming specialist, has entered into an

exclusive supply agreement with GSA

contractor and manufacturing distributor,

Phillips Corporation (Federal Division).

This deal will involve the supply of superior

tube manipulation technologies to the US

Federal Government.

The new partnership between the

companies will provide all government

customers with access to the latest tube

bending technology at a competitive

price. GSA schedules provide the option

of circumventing many of the challenges

usually associated with the government

procurement process. GSA purchases

enable customers to buy products at a price

that is pre-negotiated and deemed fair and

reasonable by the federal government.

A well-established company in the US

Federal Government marketplace since

1961, the goal of Phillips Corp has always

been to deliver the best technology
