short notice and by day, month or year. This means that at peak pe-
riods or when a break-down occurs, STR equipment can provide im-
mediate relief.
Delivery takes place within 24 hours, sometimes the same day. A
machine can therefore start earning revenue within a day of ordering.
Most of the equipment in the STR fleet are used Hyster units that
have been serviced by Barloworld Handling from new. This means the
customer receives a machine that has been cared for throughout its
working life, ensuring maximum uptime and productivity.
Barloworld Handling runs a well-oiled STR operation and its lift truck
fleet of some 760 units countrywide is in high demand. In its Central
Region (Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State and North West), for ex-
ample, utilisation averages 85 %, with customers ranging from event
management companies to heavy industry.
Service and support
Both long- and short-term rental machines are maintained at regularly
scheduled intervals. “In addition, technical support is provided 24
hours a day, seven days a week, with technicians responding to call-
outs in an average time of up to four hours countrywide,” says Tilak.
Fleet management telemetry is available to maximise asset utilisation,
reducing cost of ownership.
