These factors were addressed in the OMA study considered by the ERP leading to first action OMA
status for the method. The Probability of Detection is < 1 MPN for each of the matrices tested in
validation studies, as evidenced by the fact that none of the >20 matrices tested demonstrated
significantly better performance when comparing the POD for the appropriate reference culture
method(s) and the POD for the BAX® System method. That is, each matrix studied indicated a limit of
detection equal to that of the reference culture method as indicated by a dPOD whose confidence
interval included zero when tested at a fractional level.
ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK FROM USERS OF METHOD
The BAX® System Real Time PCR Assay for Salmonella has had steadily increasing adoptions and sales
since its initial first action status designation indicating robust method performance.
