AWARDS
2017
Consumer Money Title of the Year
Winner
Your Money, The Daily Telegraph
The preliminary scores for this category
suggested that each of the five names on the
shortlist had plenty to play for by the time the
formal judging session took place. Sure enough,
the panellists gave plenty of thought to each of
the quintet of media outlets under consideration
before homing in on a winner.
“It’s a close call but I’m siding with the
Daily
Telegraph’s Your Money
section this year
because I was more engaged with the overall
tone and tenor of its offering compared with its
perfectly worth rivals,” one judge suggested. “The
Telegraph does a really good job covering money
matters for its readers. First of all, it unearths the
issues that matter. Second it puts in the hard graft
of coming up with guidance, calls to action, etc,
so that people can make informed choices and
go about securing the best deals for whatever the
personal finance issue that’s confronting them,”
a second judge pointed out. “Unlike some of its
rivals, I think the Telegraph produces sensible,
practical coverage so that readers aren’t just left
scared to death and in a state of paralysis, so
fearful have they become of sorting out anything
to do with their pension, investments, mortgage,
or whatever,” a third judge commented.
