575M Maranello
The 575M Maranello was a two-
seater grand tourer launched in
2002 as an updated and improved
version of its 550 predecessor. The
575 indicated the displacement had
been enhanced from 5500 cc to
5750 cc, which resulted in increased
power and torque, while the “M”
suffix stood for “modificato”
(modified). In addition to the larger
engine, mechanical improvements
included an altered weight
distribution, refined aerodynamics,
adaptive suspension, and the
Magneti Marelli paddle-shift

Formula 1 transmission – used

Ferrari road car.
The 575M had optimum
weight distribution with a 50-
50 split between the axles due
to the transaxle design with a
combined rear-mounted gearbox
and differential unit. Locating the
transmission in-between the rear
wheels reduced shift times for the
electrohydraulic gear selector.

at Pininfarina, the idea was to
adapt the look of the 550 through
