LaFerrari
(aka F70 or F150)
Also known as the F70, the LaFerrari
is the first mild hybrid (typically
mainly powered by an internal
combustion engine alongside an
electric motor that enables the
engine to be negated when stopped,
braking, or coasting) produced by
Ferrari to mark the 70
th
anniversary
of motoring success. The eagerly
awaited limited production sports
car was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva
Motor Show and is the first car
since the 1973 Bertone-styled Dino
308 GT4 not to receive Pininfarina
bodywork or styling. While boasting
the highest power output of any
Ferrari, the innovative technology
has allowed fuel consumption to be
cut by 40 per cent.
A team led by Flavio Manzoni
have perfectly balanced and
emphasized both beauty and ability
in their design of LaFerrari. Inspired
by F1 models, the carbon fiber
body has been aerodynamically
sculpted into an innovative design
and the low bonnet accentuates the
muscular wheel arches. Fernando
Alonso and Felipe Massa both
played an active part in the car’s
development, which has a similar
driving position to a single-seater
F1 car.
Powered by the mid-
rear-mounted 65° V12 and
supplemented by the HY-KERS
(kinetic energy reduction system)
unit, LaFerrari promises top-level
performance in both power and
speed, delivering 950 bhp and 0-60
in less than three seconds. Punching
out a top speed of 217 mph,
LaFerrari has recorded a lap time
of just 1 minute 30 seconds on the
Fiorano Test Circuit.
