California offers a compact, sporty
appearance to its 2+2 hardtop
convertible styling. The new
California employs a number of
innovations for Ferrari: it was
the first car to use a seven-speed
dual-clutch transmission, multi-
link rear suspension, and to be
powered by a front mid-mounted
gasoline injection V8 engine. More
than 1,000 hours were spent on
perfecting its aerodynamics. The

California can accelerate from
0-60 in 3.9 seconds and push on
to a maximum speed of 193 mph.
The inclusion of an optimized
traction control system, originally
introduced on the 599 GTB
Fiorano, allows less experienced
drivers to release the car’s
performance potential. The F1-
Trac offers faster and more precise
stability, resulting in an increase
of 20 per cent in acceleration on
exiting curves.
In 2012 Ferrari announced
an upgraded California, which
weighed 66.1 lb (30 kg) less than
its 2009 counterpart in order to
enhance performance ability. In
2014 the California T was unveiled
at the Geneva Motor Show. The
eagerly anticipated upgrade boasts
an eight-cylinder turbo engine to
deliver high performance while
also featuring the most recently
evolved F1-Trac traction control
unit to maximize acceleration out
of corners.
