Ferrari’s Sporting
Pedigree
Ferrari have enjoyed more than
six decades of Formula 1 success
since the inaugural season in 1950.
Their success in Formula 1 to date
has been unrivaled and the team
can boast a number of significant
records including: most wins
(season and all time), most fastest
laps, most Grands Prix participated,
and most pole positions, to name
but a few.
Scuderia Ferrari is the longest-
standing team in Grand Prix racing
and statistically they are the most
successful, boasting 15 World
Drivers’ Championship titles, 16
World Constructors’ Championship
titles, and 221 Grand Prix victories.
The majority of Scuderia Ferrari’s
success arose from Formula 1 but
the team has successfully competed
in various levels of motorsport since
their formation in 1929.
The Formula 1 World
Championship was established in
1950 and the team made their racing
debut with a supercharged 1.5L
V12-engined 125 F1 at the Monaco
Grand Prix after missing the first
race of the championship due to a
dispute over the start money paid
to entrants. The Alfa Romeo team
dominated the first season in 1950,
but Ferrari broke their winning
streak when José Froilán González
achieved the team’s first victory
in 1951 in the British Grand Prix.
The following year Ferrari entered
their 2L four-cylinder Tipo 500 and
went on to win almost every race
