key point for the European steel supply
chain along the river.
In 2013 HUS acquired steel distributor
Metalsnab Bulgaria, previously owned
by Kloeckner Metals Corporation,
extending its domestic network of
warehouses and steel centres.

Proving the integrity of pipes and tubes
can be achieved using weld testers,
which have been designed to be easy
to operate. iNPIPE has ensured that its

Testers are effective to use. The solution
also includes patented Posi-Seal
technology, which ensures maximum
seal for optimum testing results.
Isolation tools and pipeline plugs have
been developed with the same attention
to the detail, offering optimum sealing
qualities with the Posi-Seal technology
used as standard. The Dual Tool offers
a solution that can be used for both
testing and isolation.
iNPIPE Products was approached by
Petrofac with a view to isolating a 24"ns
export riser pipeline while rectification/
replacement work took place on a gas
production platform off Great Yarmouth,
UK. The integrity of the existing valve
and the connection of the flange on
the weldolet was in question, and it
was impossible to insert a plug through
the 2"ns valve to facilitate removal or
replacement.
After an initial site survey by an IPP
technician, a triple tyred isolation
tool was designed to overcome the
insertion issue, alongside a one-off
launch/retrieval test can, designed to
insert and retrieve the tool, ensuring
containment for nitrogen testing.
The isolation tool was to be inserted
vertically down through various valves
and a concentric reducer, and seated in
a pre-determined position approximately
10m inside the riser line.
The tool would then be energised to
provide a complete isolation of the line,
allowing for the removal/replacement
of the 2"ns wrap around pipework.
To ensure the valve seats were not
damaged, the tool was supplied with
iNPIPE bumper noses.
The proposed solution, including the
fabrication of a specialist isolation
launch can, was designed and manu-
factured at the purpose-built company
production facilities within ten weeks.
After full factory approval testing (FAT),
the offshore installation was undertaken
by the iNPIPE Products™ team.
