Zeleziarne Podbrezová produces a wide
range of steel tubes. Tubes for power
generating facilities (boiler tubes) are
from the set standards point of view
classified into a group of tubes for
pressure usage at higher temperatures.
Production and testing of these tubes
goes through a very high screening
process. For the European Standards
this requires a three level structure.
The appropriate Directive for pressure
equipment is at the level of being a law.
Closely connected to this is a set of
standards for construction of appropriate
power generating facilities, and they
in turn determine the standards for
individual construction materials (tubes,
sheets, etc). Producers or suppliers of
tubes must have proper certification for
the system and production.

It is important to recognise the type
of steel, dimensions and means of
testing. The type of steel (carbon, low,
middle or high alloyed) depends on the
temperature level and the pressure level
at which the given part of the power
generating equipment is working.
Individual steels and all other technical
conditions for tubes form the content of
appropriate standards. Standards are
usually divided according to the way
they are produced into seamless tube
standards and welded tube standards.

pressure seamless steel tubes
according to EN 10216 standards, and
also welded steel tubes according to
EN 10217 standards (except steel tubes
made of rust resistant steels) and their
corresponding standards and directives.

Zumbach will be exhibiting its solutions
for in-line measurement and control of
tubes, pipes and profiles.
Steelmaster SMR gauges for high-
speed dimension measurement feature
a new system for fully contactless
power and signal transmission from
the laser heads. They offer claimed
advantages over other gauges in fast
and accurate capture of dimensions in
longitudinal and radial direction. The
maintenance for SMR gauges is close
to zero. The mechanical concept is
simple and robust: no wear on parts, no
collector rings and no brakes.
Depending on the application and
the customer requirements, static
Steelmaster SMS or oscillating SMO
are also available.
In addition to the existing line of profile
gauges for cold steel and metal profiles,
Zumbach will exhibit a new version
of Profilemaster for hot applications.
The gauges are based on triangulation
by camera vision, also referred to as
the ‘light cut principle’. Models are
available for any hot rolled profile up
to 500mm (edge length) and with up
to eight measuring points (measuring
units). All models are also available for
cold applications.
Also on show will be one of the new
upgraded Ecogauge systems of single
axis diameter/width gauges. With two
new models, the range of applications
has been extended to a diameter of
500mm (20").
Typical solutions are between rolling
stands for bar or for strips or in
conveyors, after hot extrusions, after
radial forges or in peeling and grinding
operations. Mounting is flexible and
possible in horizontal, vertical or any
orientation required.
