Beechnut Park

Beechnut Campground offers outdoor pools including a

kids’ pool, diving area, and rope swing. Snack bar, camping,

Homeplace Recreational Park

Homeplace has Surry’s largest pool and only waterslide,

as well as a diving pool, sloped kids’ entry area, rope

swing, snack bar, arcade, campground, hiking trails, pond

and waterfall, miniature golf, picnic shelters, and more.

The pool is open from late May through early September.

Homeplace is located only 10 minutes from Mount Airy.

Reeves offers a variety of recreational and fitness facilities

the Andy Griffith Playhouse, showcasing performing and

Historic Mount Airy Ghost Tours

A tour guide will lead you on a 90-minute, lantern-lit

walking tour through Downtown Mount Airy, highlight-

ing some of Mount Airy’s final resting places with little-

known facts about the area and stories about 13 less

than-mortal friends – where they lived and supposedly

died.Tours begin at 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday

night, Spring through Fall from June through the end of

October.This is a great way to bring history to “life” – if

you’ve been to Mount Airy during the day, it’s time to

visit at night! Reservations are highly recommended.

Old City Jail

The old city jail is located inside Escape Hair Salon at

215 City Hall Street in Historic Downtown Mount Airy.

Once the town’s real jail, the Old City Jail is a delight for

Mayberry fans as well as fans of historic attractions. It is

listed as an All-American Landmarks Roadside Attrac-

tion and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
