I. MANDATORY POSTERS / POSTINGS (OHIO LAW)

A. GENERAL

1. POLICY REGARDING ENTRY OF PERSONS OTHER THAN STUDENTS, STAFF, AND

FACULTY UPON SCHOOL GROUNDS/PREMISES

The policy must be posted conspicuously at or near the entrance of the school grounds or premises (or

near the perimeter of the school grounds or premises if there are no formal entrances) and at the main

entrance to each school building. O.R.C. § 3313.20(A).

2. DEADLY WEAPONS OR DANGEROUS ORDNANCE

The board of education, governing body of a school or principal of a nonpublic school, shall post in a

conspicuous location a sign containing the following statement “unless otherwise authorized by law, no

person shall knowingly possess, have under the person’s control, convey, or attempt to convey a deadly

weapon or dangerous ordnance into a school safety zone.” O.R.C. § 2923.1212(B).

3. SMOKE-FREE WORKPLACE ACT

“No Smoking” signs or the international “No Smoking” symbol shall be conspicuously posted in every

public place and place of employment where smoking is prohibited. Signs should be posted at each

entrance of the building and be of sufficient size to be clearly legible to a person with normal vision. All

signs must contain a telephone number for reporting violations. All ashtrays and other receptacles used

for disposing of smoking materials must be removed from any area where smoking is prohibited.

O.R.C. §3794.06.

4. POLICY REGARDING PARENTAL EDUCATION OR TRAINING PROGRAM

The policy must be posted in a central location in each school building of the district. O.R.C. §

3313.663(C).
