Solenoid valve for high-

pressure applications

The type 6027 solenoid valve from

fluid technology specialist Bürkert is

available in a new high-pressure version

for pressures up to 250 bar. The new

variant of the type 6027 seals the valve

seat with a ceramic ball seal.

The seal is self-centring and provides

reliable and long-term protection

against leaks. The ball material (Al

2

O

3

)

is resistant to abrasion, wear and

chemicals.

The material used for the seat of the

solenoid valve is highly temperature-

resistant polyether ether ketone (PEEK).

The hardness and chemical resistance of

this material fulfil the high requirements

with respect to the sealing properties of

the solenoid valve. The use of stainless

steel and a laser-welded plunger guide

tube provides high pressure resistance

(five times the nominal pressure) and

low leakage.

The valve is offered in a direct current

version. For devices with alternating

current, a rectifier connector socket

is included in the standard scope of

delivery.

Typical applications for the universal

type 6027 valve are critical gases and

fluids.

The high-pressure version offers

solutions for the construction of test

rigs. One example for this would be

filling systems for air conditioners in the

automotive industry. This application

is relevant, since the EU has defined

new limits for the emission of climate-

damaging coolants; starting in 2017, air

conditioners in new cars can be filled

only with coolants having a relatively

low global warming potential (below

150).

In addition to test benches, the new

high-pressure valve is also suitable

for gas applications, where the use of

sliding rings reduces abrasion.

New nozzle check valve

YPS Valves, a designer and

manufacturer of valves for the

hydrocarbon processing, chemical,

nuclear and off-shore industries, has

developed a Nozzle Check Valve. The

valve is available to order in sizes from

0.5" to 2", with larger sizes to be made

available later in the year.

The company says that the Nozzle Check

Valve has been produced to provide

customers with an alternative to swing

check valves. Managing

director Rachel Wormald

commented, “We have

introduced this valve to

our range in response

to customer demand. As

well as being competi-

tively priced, they are

also very efficient and

easily maintained, and

can be manufactured

from both castings and

bar material.”

The

first

major

consignment of the

Nozzle Check Valve has

been completed and

despatched to a client in

China, for liquid oxygen

fluid service.

YPS has also invested £120,000 on an

improved dye penetrant testing facility

at its manufacturing base in Leeds, West

Yorkshire, UK. The new facility increases

the capacity to conduct additional DPI

tests with more efficiency, and is used

to confirm the integrity of castings and

welds.

The on-going investment in equipment

has included the recent addition of

a new CNC milling machine capable

of producing very large high pressure

valves particularly for oxygen service,

which is now fully operational.

A high-capacity ultrasonic degreasing

machine is also in use after being

commissioned at the end of last year.

The machine can degrease valves up to

a 16" 900 globe valve, making it suitable

for a range of applications, including

oxygen service.
