THE PBM-16 bevel machine from the
Dutch manufacturer Th Wortelboer BV has
proven its value over the last few decades
– the machine is extremely reliable and
very easy to operate.
At the same time the maintenance
costs are exceptionally low. The PBM-16
machines can be fitted with a broad range
of insert holders to make any required weld
prep on pipes in the range from 2" to 16".
The high power motor and very rigid prism
clamp make it possible to machine a 25mm
pipe wall in one pass. This PBM-16 has
always been the benchmark in stationary
bevel machines.
This year Th Wortelboer again sets a
new standard in stationary bevelling with
the 2011 model. This new PBM-16 bevel
machine is improved on many points. It is
more powerful and has a higher capacity.
And although the design is virtually the
same, it has improved ergonomics and
better safety measure for the operator. The
new machine has a slide cover with a large
sight glass for a better view on the pipe end.
To improve the actual bevelling result, this
PBM has a spindle feed and an adjustable
speed. The old model had four fixed speeds
over a gear box. The new model PBM is
provided with a four-step switch combined
with an inverter. This makes it possible to
set different customer-required speeds. For
more stability and less vibration, the new
PBM also has heavier guides.
