Sølvgade. This became the home for studies of advanced inorganic
chemistry until 1963. Interiors and drawings of this laboiatoiy aie
shown in this book.

The Institute for Physics and Chemistry is established in 1908.
During the first years, namely in 1908, a special Ghair of Physical
Chemistry was founded near Sølvtorvet. In 1929 a new building
was erected in Blegdamsvej, pictures of which are reproduced.

The Physics Laboratory is established in 1890 and is moved to
Sølvtorvet.

When the Technical University was moved to Sølvgade the Phy
sics Laboratory was given better premises (described and shown in
pictures) until this laboratory, too, was moved to the H. G. Oersted
Institute in 1963. The book shows a facsimile of the proposal sent
by Professor Niels Bohr in 1915 to the University. The proposal
deals with the foundation of a Chair of Theoretical Physics, and
includes plans for an institute for theoretical physics, (likewise
shown in facsimile). This institute first saw the light in 1921 in
Blegdamsvej. It is now known all over the world on account of the
experiments and the school in which Niels Bohr was the mowing
spirit. Throughout many years it has become the rallying-ground
for nuclear physicists from all over the world, scientists who, have
for longer or shorter periods studied there.
In 1928 an institute for biophysics was established. It was moved
to the H. G. Oersted Institute in 1964.
