Validation of A LC-MS/MS Method for Folate Analysis in i
nfant Formula
and Adult Nutritional Samples (using SPIFAN II Samples)
Objective:
Develop and validate a LC-MS/MS method for quantitation of folate in infant formula and
adult nutritional samples. Analysis of the SPIFAN infant formula and adult nutritional samples for total
folate by the validated method.
Analyte Scope:
Total folate as folic acid as sum of Folic acid (FA), , 5-methyl-5,6.7,8-tetrahydrofolate (5-CH3-THF),
5-formyl-5,6.7,8-tetrahydrofolate (5-CHO-THF), 5,6.7,8-tetrahydrofolate (THF), 5,10 methenyl--
5,6.7,8-tetrahydrofolate (5,10-CH=THF), 10-methyl-folic acid (CH3-FA), 10-formyl-folic acid (CHO-
FA) as folic acid.
