Table 2 Overview of GRID-Arendal’s total funding 2008 and 2009 (in Norwegian Kroner):
The table and the chart show that in 2009 GRID-Arendal was able to fundraise
MNOK 14 from UNEP and MNOK 15,9 from other external sources in addition to
the framework funding of MNOK 22,7 and the core funding of MNOK 4,5.
All the framework funding and core funding received in 2008 and 2009 were fully
used at year end 2009.
The funding from the UNEP project document 2008/2009 was received late (nearly
90% in May 2009).
The high activity with corresponding fundraising for both years enabled GRID-
Arendal to build up an equity reserve of MNOK 9,3 which is close to the overall
goal of MNOK 10 by end of 2010 set by the board.
For Marine A an external funding of NOK 4 222 000 was raised for Pacific states
for their extended continental shelf work from the UN Trust Fund. These funds
supported directly the states and did not go through GRID-Arendal, but GRID-
Arendal was instrumental in securing these funds. The figures for Marine A, the
UNEP Shelf Programme, include also December 2007.
