ABA and CBMP teleconferences, at ABA Steering Committee meeting in Copenhagen in March 2009 and

Vancouver in Sept. 2009.

GRID-Arendal is the editor of the upcoming ABA report Arctic Biodiversity Trends 2010 – Selected Indicators

of Status and Trends to be published mid-2010.

GRID-Arendal has also been involved in the drafting of the key messages that will be included in the CBD’s

Global Biodiversity Outlook, to be launched in May 2010.

Assisted in organizing the Conference on High Mountain Glaciers and Challenges caused by Climate

Change in Tromsø in June.

Made a presentation and contributed to High Mountain Glaciers Conference Theme 3 (Climate change

impact on ecosystems and livelihoods and adaptation strategies)

International Polar Year (IPY) Resources -- This project was designed to coordinate the Polar Books initiative

and involved working with IPY book authors and publishers as well as coordination with IPY education and

outreach networks.

database continues to be populated with new material. There will be a Polar Books exhibit at the 2010 IPY

Scientific Conference in Oslo, 8-12 June, 2010.

MSV network further developed and support provided to participants (e.g. through an active listserv; through

provision of materials and forums for discussion and presentation leading up to and at the December COP

14 in Poznan); implementation and communication plans finalized. Network development and coordination

funded by GRID-Arendal, United Kingdom, and three foundations. 2009 funding secured through CICERO

(Norway), and specific MSV project funding secured from Canada, Nordic Council of Ministers, World Bank

Institute, Land Is Life and UNEP.
