Mix some of the bitter herb with the sweet charoset, recite
the blessing (without reclining), then eat. If it hurts, you know
you've done it right. This is your taste of slavery's bitterness!
רֹור. ָ ת מַיל ִ כ ֲ ל א ַ נּו ע ָּו ִ צְיו ו ָ ֹות ְ צ ִ מ ְ נּו ּב ָ ש ְ ּד ִ ר ק ֶ ׁש ֲ ם, א ָ עֹול ָ ְך ה ֶל ֶ ינּו מ ֵ ֹלה ֱ ה יי א ָ רּוְך ַאּת ָ ּב
Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech ha-olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav
v'tzivanu al achilat maror.
Blessed are You, Eternal our God, Ruler of the Universe, who has taught us the
way of holiness through commandments, commanding us to eat the bitter herb.
Before eating the matzah, put the bottom matzah back in its place
and continue, reciting the following blessing while holding only
the top and middle piece of matzah:
ה.ָּצ ַ ת מַיל ִ כ ֲ ל א ַ נּו ע ָּו ִ צְיו ו ָ ֹות ְ צ ִ מ ְ נּו ּב ָ ש ְ ּד ִ ר ק ֶ ׁש ֲ ם, א ָ עֹול ָ ְך ה ֶל ֶ ינּו מ ֵ ֹלה ֱ ה יי א ָ רּוְך ַאּת ָ ּב

Break the top and middle matzot into pieces and distribute them
everyone at the table to eat while reclining to the left

Eating the bitter herb
