Discovering the U.K.

South Kensington and Chelsea

This stylish and affluent area of London is renowned for its beautiful architecture, fine dining

restaurants and some of the best shopping in London. The King’s Road in Chelsea was

constructed by Charles II to link his palaces at Whitehall and Hampton Court. It entices

shoppers, designers and antique collectors from all over the world and has been called

home by royalty, poets, authors and celebrities. There is a superb choice of restaurants and

wine bars and the annual Chelsea Flower Show is a national institution and a wonderful day

out.

South Kensington is an equally elegant and

sought-after area with good transport links and one

of the world’s most famous stretch of cultural

institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum,

the Science Museum and the Natural History

Museum. This part of London is home to large

numbers of French expatriates. The French

consulate is located here, along with the Lycée

Français Charles de Gaulle - a large French

secondary school opposite the Natural History

Museum.

The Housing Market

This exclusive corner of London is home to some of London’s finest and most exclusive

garden squares such as Onslow Square and Chelsea Square. Chelsea is also known for its

colourful terraces and discreet mews houses. South Kensington is popular for its beautiful

period architecture, grand stucco-fronted properties and stylish apartments.

galleries and antique shops, nearby there is the Royal Albert Hall, V & A and Natural History

museum in South Kensington.

Transport

Sloane Square and South Kensington underground stations are in Zone 1 and provide

connections to the District, Circle, Piccadilly and Victoria lines.
