Discovering the U.K.
Islington
Described as one of London’s “smarter locations”, Islington is a vibrant and bustling area
popular with young professionals and families alike. It has a mix of apartment and family
homes although apartments are the mainstay of the area. Having a car may be challenging
due to the area’s inner-city location and restricted parking options. Public transport is
considered the most practical option for getting in and around London. The area is easily
navigable on foot and most local amenities are within good walking distance. Being on the
tube also allows for easy access to other part of the city and wider central London area.
Given the location, Islington is near to some excellent theatres – Covent Garden being a
short tube ride away. The Almedia Theatre and the Islington Assembly are smaller venues
but with a regular and varied performance throughout the year and Sadlers Wells is a short
distance away just to the south of the Angel and the open-air theatre in Regents Park is also
within easy reach.
Housing Market
Islington is to the north of the City of London
and lies just east of Regents Park and
Camden. Regents Park and Coram's fields
are the nearest and largest open public
spaces and parks and are a popular choice
with locals looking for some greenery. There
is a mix of both houses and apartments
although apartments are more prevalent in
the area. Given its urban area, private green
spaces and gardens are rare and come at a
premium.

Entertainment
Islington has a vast range of bars and restaurants and Upper Street is home to some of
London's best. There are some great eateries around Islington Green and for a great
Sunday lunch, check out Zilouf's on Upper Street. The Islington Academy, one of London's
premier music venues, sits just on Upper Street and hosts live events throughout the year. In
addition to the plethora of bars and restaurants, there are also several night clubs and late
licence bars. This is a destination location for some of London's premier nightlife.
Transport
The Tube is available at Angel Station, accessing the Norther Line while Highbury and
Islington access the Victoria Line. The Overground is an option for Highbury and Islington,
and bus transport is well served in the area.
