Discovering the U.K.

Kensington and Notting Hill

The area formed by Kensington, Notting Hill, Bayswater and Holland Park is home to a

vibrant and cosmopolitan population within one of the most desirable and attractive parts of

the city.

Notting Hill has blossomed into one of London’s most desirable areas. It is a colourful,

eclectic and vibrant hub for young professionals, artists, creatives and musicians. Tree-lined

streets are lined with large family homes and stylish apartments. Notting Hill also has some

of the capital’s most charming private garden squares. Portobello Market has been trading

here since 1837 and is a unique experience of street theatre as much as a place to buy

antiques, clothing and jewelry. It is also home to

the renowned Notting Hill Carnival, a British

institution and spectacular must-see annual event.

Housing Market

Neighbouring Bayswater is an increasingly trendy

and culturally diverse community that offers more

affordable property than Kensington or Notting Hill.

Its central location makes it attractive to young

professionals and urbanites who like to be within

walking distance of all the action.

Entertainment

The Royal Borough (given ‘Royal’ status in 1901) has been home to the monarchy since

1689. Their well- tended gardens at Kensington Palace are open to the public, as are those

of Holland Park. When it comes to shopping, Kensington High Street has every high street

brand you can think of with the landmark Barkers building, now Whole Foods, reminding us

of the street’s history in retail supremacy.

Transport

Underground stations include Kensington High Street, Notting Hill Gate, Bayswater and

Queensway. Paddington Rail Station is close by and offers fast services to Heathrow Airport

(30 minutes).

St. John’s Wood and Maida Vale

Bordering Regent’s Park and with a chic, designer High Street, leafy St John’s Wood is one

of London’s most upmarket and fashionable suburbs. Its NW8 postcode has been ranked by

Forbes magazine as one of the top five most expensive and sought-after in the capital.

This cosmopolitan area attracts people from the City, business and the arts. Young

professionals are charmed by St John’s Wood’s central location, shops and bars, and many

choose to stay in the area when it comes time to upsize into family houses. The 410 acres of

Regent’s Park and London Zoo are right on the doorstep and there are some highly sought-
