2015 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
ECONOMIC
Launched the enhancements to the
Engineering component of the Online
Development Enquiry;
Deployed mobile tablet access for the
Engineering Land Development
Inspectors;
Initiated a pilot project to support
electronic submission/review of
servicing design drawings for
Engineering land development
projects;
Delivered $66M of the $70M in sewer,
water, drainage and transportation
improvements under the Capital
Program for 2015;
Achieved substantial completion of
the City’s street light wire replacement
project. The project was recognized
by the Union of BC Municipalities for a
Community Excellence Award under
the Excellence in Action category;
Project Highlights include construction
of the $8 Million King George
Boulevard road widening and
construction of the $8.5 Million 160
Street Road Widening, from 96
Avenue to 104 Avenue, is underway
and scheduled to be completed in
Spring 2016;
Finalized the agreement and started
construction with the City’s partner,
Orgaworld Canada, to construct the
Biofuel Facility with service
commencement scheduled by early
2017;
Continued growth of the City’s Electric
Vehicle Car Share Program at City Hall
with over 350 staff signed up.
Explored expansion of the car share
program to the City’s Operations
Centre;
Evaluated and remodelled the City’s
approach to illegal dumping
operations which will result in a 24%
decrease in costs ($240,000) over a
one-year period. Further refinements
are being made towards reaching our
goal of a 50% reduction (compared to
the 2014 base-year);
Completed 146 real estate transactions
and $37 million in transactional value
for parks, roads and other City real
estate;
Increased annual lease and rental
revenues by more than $605,000 over
2014 levels;
Acquired property rights for the 2015
Capital Works Program, including
major road widening projects such as
160 Street, and various drainage
infrastructure projects such as Gray
Creek, and projects in support of
public safety, such as the Newton
Grove Greenway;
Completed the construction of the
New Operations Centre on time and
within budget. The new facility
consists of a New Operations Building,
Fleet Services Centre, and an
Operations Warehouse. The new 4
story Operations Centre facility is
home to the Engineering-Operations
Division, Parks, Operations, Facilities
Management and Bylaw Enforcement
Divisions. It includes state-of-the-art
offices and meeting rooms, training
facilities, trades workshops,
lunchroom, and a fitness center;
