FUTURE INITIATIVES
Completed a comprehensive review
and rewrite of the City’s waste
collection services bylaws to reflect
the Rethink Waste Collection program
for single-family households and
Apartment Buildings;
Secured a location for the 2015/2016
Winter Shelter in the City Centre,
including managing and coordinating
site enhancements and extensive
building renovations;
Completed the Unwin Parkland
assembly in Newton, as well as
completing the Cloverdale
Fairgrounds land assembly;
Secured a 7-year lease renewal with
the BC Lions for their City Centre
location;
Invested $17.3 million in the Parkland
Acquisition Program. Parkland
acquisitions, excluding riparian
dedications and parkland transferred
to the City as a requirement of
subdivision, resulted in 54 acres being
added to the City’s park inventory
during 2015, and more than 93 acres
being added during the last two years;
Acquired the necessary land for the
East Bridgeview Pump Station location
(Phase IV); and
Secured a 3-year lease renewal for the
RCMP Newton District office.
ECONOMIC
Generate $1,000,000 in new annual
lease and rental revenue to the City;
Develop residential subdivisions in
Cloverdale and Royal Heights, and sell
the finished lots;
Negotiate a lease renewal with Imasco
Minerals;
Continue to provide best-in-class
conveyancing services;
Assist SCDC in their due-diligence
requirements;
Enhance Engineering land
development design process by
expanding electronic design
submission/review to include external
utility drawings;
Implement proposed Servicing
Agreement changes after review with
development industry;
Develop criteria to qualify land
development project as “priority” for
expedited Engineering processing
(“nexus”);
Prepare typical project schedule for
Engineering component of overall
land development process and
implement on “priority” projects;
Configure AMANDA changes to
streamline Engineering land
development inspection processes;
Roll-out Engineering land
development project feedback form
and complete at least one form with
each consultant;
Revise Engineering content of land
development web pages to improve
information accessibility;
