2016-2020 FINANCIAL PLAN
Work with Surrey RCMP to
accommodate their current and future
office space requirements within the
Surrey Justice Precinct (Old City Hall),
and to identify new District Office
locations in Newton & Cloverdale;
Continue to pursue strategic City
Centre and City-wide land acquisitions
to position the City for sustainable
Transportation, Utilities, Parks & Civic
purpose projects;
Assist Translink and SFU in achieving
their real estate objectives within the
City Centre;
Complete a Heritage Revitalization
Agreement for Firehall #7 in Port Kells
as part of the sale of this site to the
Fire Fighters Association for historical
preservation purposes;
Continue to provide advice to the Light
Rapid Transit (LRT) project team for
the development of a strategic land
acquisition delivery process, including
compensation and mitigation
elements;
Work with the Surrey Food Bank to
identify new premises for their
relocation;
Encourage and assist mentoring
programs in support of workforce
planning and training;
Implement emergency response
training for all Engineering-Operations
staff to ensure a higher degree of
awareness and preparedness;
Implement Quality Management
System for Drinking Water to achieve
consistent good practice in managing
and operating the City’s water system;
Develop and implement information
and how-to videos for the City web
site across all sections providing our
customers with easy-to-follow
information and instructions relating
to maintenance issues and our
services;
Pilot new snow and ice control
technologies to increase efficiencies
and effectiveness of materials
placement along priority routes;
Incorporate vehicle guards on all new
heavy duty trucks and review the
potential to retrofit the same on
existing HD trucks; and
Access Traffic Management System
within Central Dispatch for improved
monitoring of weather conditions
across the City.
